Matria (2024) Streaming

"Matria" tells the story of Ana, a middle-aged woman living in a small village in rural Spain. Ana has spent her entire life caring for her family and her community, but when her husband dies suddenly, she is forced to confront the deep-rooted gender roles and societal expectations that have confined her for so long. Determined to break free from the limitations placed upon her, Ana begins to assert her independence and autonomy, much to the dismay of those around her. As she navigates the challenges of stepping into a new role, Ana must also come to terms with the trauma and abuse she has experienced in her past. Through her journey of self-discovery and empowerment, Ana ultimately finds the strength to reclaim her voice and redefine her place in the world.
